You have Google Ads set up for lead generation, but you don’t know which campaigns are yielding results.
This problem is frequently encountered. Google Ads shows how many leads come from each campaign, ad, or keyword, without details on individual leads.
Therefore, you have no way of knowing which campaign, ad, or keyword led to leads that converted to customers.
LeadSources tackles this challenge.
Using LeadSources, you can track your Google Ads data (campaign, ad, keyword, etc.) for each specific lead.
You can then keep Google Ads data (campaign, ad, keyword, etc.) for each lead in Jotform.
You can then create reports like “Keywords that generated the most leads” and determine which keywords to continue or stop.
Let’s start!
Capture Google Ads lead data in Jotform in 4 steps
Step 1: Add Leadsources in the head tag of your website
Sign up to Leadsources.io, and benefit from our 14-day free trial.
Add the LeadSources code in the head tag of your website. No coding experience is necessary.
Simply follow this easy step-by-step guide.
Step 2: Add the UTM parameters to your Google Ads campaigns
Add the UTM parameters you wish to follow to all your Google Ads campaigns.
Here are some UTM parameters to consider for your ad:
- UTM_source
- UTM_campaign
- UTM_term
- UTM_content
LeadSources gathers additional data not found in UTM parameters, such as the channel, landing page, and subfolder, to provide a thorough lead-level view.
Step 3: Add the hidden fields in Jotform
LeadSources automatically inserts Google Ads data (campaign, ad, keyword, landing page, etc.) into the hidden fields of your Jotform (name, email, etc.) as visitors fill them out.
To set this up, refer to our step-by-step instructions for adding hidden fields in Jotform
LeadSources will directly input the Google Ads data into your Jotform.
Step 4: Capture the Google Ads data in Jotform
When a user clicks on your Google Ads ad and arrives at your page, LeadSources captures the Google Ads data (campaign, ad, keyword, landing page, etc.).
Google Ads data is automatically placed into the hidden fields of your Jotform by LeadSources.
Once the form is submitted, both the Google Ads data and the form responses are delivered to the submissions page in Jotform.
How does Leadsources work?
By inserting the LeadSources code into the head tag of your website, Google Ads data (UTM parameters and referrer) will be captured during every site visit.
The data from Google Ads is then recorded in the hidden fields of your Jotform.
LeadSources will still gather information about visitors without UTM parameters in the URL using the referrer:
- Channel
- Source
- Campaign
- Landing page
- Landing page subfolder
This technique helps you observe crucial lead source data even when UTM parameters are missing, including:
- On Google Search
- On your Instagram bio link
- On your social media posts
- Etc.
Lead data is typically tracked by most tools only when UTM parameters are included (mainly on paid and referral channels) – and this presents a challenge!
LeadSources records lead data from all channels, regardless of whether UTM parameters are used:
- Organic Search
- Paid Search
- Organic Social
- Paid Social
- Referral
- Affiliate
- Display Advertising
- Direct Traffic
This helps you gather and centralize all lead source data into a single location.
How to run performance reports
Having your Google Ads data in Jotform allows you to generate performance reports such as:
- Leads per campaign
- Leads per ad
- Leads per keyword
- Etc.
This enables you to make better decisions regarding your Google Ads investment.
Let’s check out the reports you can produce.
Lead performance reports
You can run reports to reveal the number of leads generated from:
- Channel
- Campaign
- Ad
- Keyword
- Landing page
- Landing page subfolder
Example #1
Export the data from campaigns on various channels (SEO, PPC, email, etc.) to generate a report named “Leads by Channel.”
Example #2
Once you identify the channel with the highest lead generation (e.g., Google Ads), you can select this channel to examine the lead count for each specific ad campaign.
Example #3
Once you have identified the top lead-generating campaign, you can investigate which specific keywords are responsible for these leads.
Sales performance report
While it’s useful to determine which ads and keywords produce the most leads, do they also lead to increased revenue?
Moving your Jotform submissions to a CRM (like GoHighLevel) helps you create insightful sales reports.
Example:
Channels | Search Paid | Social Paid |
Leads | 50 | 75 |
Sales | 5 | 6 |
Average order value | $150 | $100 |
Revenue | $750 | $600 |
After conducting ads on both Google and Facebook, you noted that Social Paid ads resulted in a higher lead count compared to Search Paid ads.
After a few weeks of analysis, it’s clear that the Search Paid channel generated more revenue with fewer leads compared to the Social Paid channel. This information supports increasing the budget for Search Paid campaigns.
